From quaint, picturesque Christmas villages to hip urban Christmas vibes, Connecticut offers all of us so many holiday activity options.
I’ve researched a handful of the state favorites so you can spend more time enjoying the holidays and less time planning for them.
Every nurse knows how important balance is, especially as we get older. How many patients do we see whose lack of balance was the cause of their accident and their injuries?
As we age, all the small stabilizer muscles, especially in our core, weaken and erode, causing our posture to fade and our balance to soften.
So this month we are focusing on energizing, nurse-friendly exercises you can do at work to improve your balance.
As with the rest of our nurse-friendly exercises in this series, these movements can be performed without any weights, completed quickly, and repeated throughout your shift for maximum benefit.

I mean, we all know it’s beneficial to our social and emotional well-being. We also know it’s good for our spiritual and physical well-being, as well.

Core exercises are some of the all-around best exercises you can do to improve your overall health. They strengthen all those muscles from your rib cage down to your upper thighs and they help you maintain your posture and pick up things.
Considering how much time nurses spend on their feet and physically moving either patients or equipment, these exercises are super important for you to do.
Like the rest of our Nurse-Friendly Exercises, we’ve chosen moves that you can do while on the job in very short sprints of time — 30 seconds or less. If you have more time, then you can do more, otherwise, these should be easy to add to your daily routines.
Remember, daily exercise in just small increments of time also helps you relieve stress and anxiety.

Summer may be gone but the Holiday Season is here and that means soooo much good food. Combined with holiday gatherings with friends and family and we’ve got some good times coming our way!
And don’t we all need some good times?
As nurses, as spouses, as mothers our lives move pretty darn fast and our plans for downtime always seem to go unchecked on the to-do list. So this Fall, let’s all schedule some spare moments to take a drive, go for a nature walk, and just breathe in some of these incredible spots right here in Connecticut.
