NORWICH, Conn. — Feb 20, 2020 — After earning 2020 Best of Home Care — Employer of Choice from Homecare Pulse, Assured Quality Homecare LLC is honored to announce today that it has been nominated for The Day’s Best of 2020 Home Care Services (Non-Medical). The Day’s annual best of readers’ choice award recognizes the best people, places and businesses in Southeastern Connecticut.
“We are humbled to receive this nomination for our second consecutive year. This achievement is confirmation that what we are doing is working,” says CEO Samanta Roseme, R.N. B.S.N . “Believe it or not, our story begins when I was working as a hospice registered nurse, and my husband Caleb challenged me to ‘do something about it.’
“Working as a hospice nurse caring for older adults with terminal illnesses, my greatest frustration was that the caregivers hired by my patients’ families had no idea what they were doing. It negatively affected my patients’ well-being and comfort. After investigating the matter, I found that Connecticut sets no standards for home care agency owners nor the caregivers they hire to care for others. As a result, anyone could be hired as a caregiver with little to no experience, training, certification or supervision, and this was often the case.
“After weeks of complaining about this to my husband, being the no-nonsense type of guy he is, he challenged me to ‘do something about it.’ Little did he know that I, in turn, would convince him to help me start a home-care agency and leave his engineering career to help provide older adults with high-quality caregivers to keep them well cared for and safe at home. Since then, countless other professionals have left their careers to join our fight to set the Gold Standard in home care.”
